1997 GM Ignition Failure

1997 GM Ignition Failure
I have an intermittent problem. On occasion, turning the key results in absolutely nothing except activation of door locks. I can wait some length of time, i.e., an hour, and try again and it will start with no problem. I believe this is a digital issue.
I'm looking for an economical resolution. Independents tend to be inadequate on digital support. A dealer would charge me much more than the car is worth, but could likely resolve the issue for a 4 digit sum.
Any insights on this?

Try this:
Get a shop rag or paper towel to hold below the Ignition Lock.
Insert the plastic tip of a can of WD-40 into the ignition keyhole -- spray into the lock for five (5) seconds.
Wipe up any stuff that comes out of the lock.
This may not work for you, but this simple trick has saved A LOT of "ignition problems" for me and my customers over the years.
Good Luck !!
