no problem . Do you have a budget? the price you want to stay in is the goal. the next goal is a hp that is within that price. Do you want fuel injected or carb? let me know and i will post one tonight

well, i''m 17 and need to drive this puppy around to work, school, and
around town lots. So she needs to be good to go for emissions, fuel
injection still, and I''m looking to see what can be done with my engine. over
a couple years, I might be able to spend 3-4 grand on the engine. I''m likin
the idea of the new exhast from the headers to the tips for a nice breathing
loud sound. That''ll be the first thing i will do. I know i wont be able to
make insane power under these limitations lol but lookn to make it as
powerful and peppy as i can.

Thanks allot man, andy

cool. I just posted a "to rebuild or not to rebuild" it will be for the 5.0> I will keep in mind what you want. i think it is what most people want. if you come up with other ideas, post it on that post. i will finish it by the 5th of July. 3500 can get you a lot of motor. Do you have mechanical skills? or are you looking for just bolt on parts for now? A nice cam and headers with posrted heads and matching intake will be awesome for that car. Remember, you have a very heavy car. Getting it in the 12''s is probably the best you are going to get. I will post some ideas o this for bolt on''s and I will post the engine build on the other post.

Well Jason, that sounds great. I don''''t mean to brag, haha, but I do have
very good mechanical skills, it just comes to me, i''''m lucky that way. I''''m
looking for basically parts that can be just bolted on, or with mild
machining (I just got a dremel and time haha). The cam, new heads,
headers, and intake all sound perfect. Would you happen to know what
my milage would do if i did these things? Just looking for ball park idea
by how much it would go up or down. And will the emissions be better
or worse? I know it depends on allot of things but just looking for ball
park ideas.

And... for now I have limited funding so if you could suggest some little
things also that i could do for very little cost, while i''''m saving 3500, that
would give me the best bang for my buck. I don''''t mind spending time on
it.

Thanks so much for taking the time to help some of us out like you are.
Before this forum i could barly find a little tidbit on mercs, and now your
going to do a buildup on the same engine as mine! I love it!

Thanks again, andyEdited by: merc91

Generally speaking most, but not all performance parts will keep the same mpg or lose a few. it really depends what you are looking to do.

Here is what i would do. Go to ebay and shop around and get a feel of the prices of the parts i will tell you about.

If i was you and on a very limited budget, I would do the following for now. Headers. make sure they have the o2 sensor bung on it. They are about 50-150 bucks for good used ones. i would then remove the screens in the mass air flow sensor. This is good for about 5-7 horsepower and it is a frre thing to do because you are just taking them out. next put in a K&N air filter. these are about 30 bucks. you might gain a total of about 30 horsepower for under 200 dollars. This equates to 6 dollars per horsepower. In my opinion the cold air kits are not worth it. they are 200 dollars for the ones that work and you only get 8 horsepower gain. this is a 25 dollar per horsepower gain, get the picture! stay in the are of things that work and are in your range. things like a new gear in the rear end will change your mpg''s and I think you don''t want to do that. email me at jcsereiko@comcast.netI can give you better stuff and ideas and we are not taking up posting space
