I recently purchased a 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis GS. The original owner couldn't provide a key fob with the car and wasn't certain if it originally came with one.

I've been looking on eBay for one, contacted a seller, and was told that I needed to find out if my car came with a keyless entry system. I tried contacting my local dealer, but they keep trying to get me to come in for an appointment. I really don't want to have to deal with that sort of hassle.

Can anyone tell me how I would find out if my car has a keyless entry system installed so that I can program a key fob for it?

I thought they were standard?
