Default Manual Swap?

Well, I've got a 1996 Grand Marquis, and she runs nice and all, absolutely beautiful. With a personal preference for manuals it kind of sucks that she's automatic. Does anyone have an experience or good advice for it? I was thinking of taking the tranny out of a mid-90's 5-speed mustang, they have the same engine, granted the Fox and Panther platforms are different so the placement and room would be off, but that's the best idea I've got so far. Much thanks

A while back I read an article about one of those high performance driving schools. They had a couple of MGM's with Cobra motors and tremec's installed in them. Granted it was all professionally built, but it was mostly off the shelf mustang parts used to build them.

You would undoubtedly have to move the crossmember to support a 5 speed, and prolly have to play with the shifter length to get it into your hand, but it should be doable.
