I picked up some used late model Mustang wheels with good tires. They just bolt right up, and I think it makes the car look like it's got some muscle. Clean, slightly agressive look... I love it!

And exhaust note to match!

What do you all think of that, huh? I like the anthracite/gunmetal gray wheels with the pale green car. For me, anyway, full chrome would be too blingy. I like it a little more subtle.

Did you write "it makes the car LOOK like it's got SOME muscle" But really I think it looks Marauderish. Cool and easy bolt. I think you should go down to your nearest Auto Zone and buy some pieces of black grill screen inserts(cut to fit) and fill in the nose of the car with it. Just an outside opinion. Either way, it looks good.

Lab Rat 04-08-2008 06:19 PM

Yeah, I've thought of doing something with the grill. I'm not sure if there's a grill from another Panther platform that will fit and look better, or if painting this one to match the car (monochrome look) would work.

Would a black one from a Crown Vic look good? How about a Marauder grill? I'm not trying to build a Marauder wannabe, but there are some styling cues that are obviously nicer than the run-of-the-mill Marquis'.

About the mesh inserts, are you talking about the openings below the bumper? The holes at each end of the bumper are actually covered with black plastic knock-outs. That's where the factory fogs would go. (Which I think would look nice.)

Thanks for the input!

Rich

conan312 04-10-2008 09:12 PM

yeah, the fogs would look sweet.(just not blue lights) and yeah I think the grill and the four or five holes below it with mesh. just an outsiders perspective. Does it have dual exhaust? Straight, slash cut 2 1/2 inch exhaust tips. How about a lightly tinted lic. plate cover for the back w/chrome caps for the screws,(WALMART). Billet gas cap door? Just some suggestions. Does it have four wheel disc? Let me know.

olds97_lss 04-11-2008 08:45 PM

That doesn't look half bad at all!

I recently bought an 06 marquis as well. I previously had a 98. The wheels on the 98 were much easier to clean than a lot of them. The 06 looks like they will be a little more annoying.

conan312 04-12-2008 07:38 PM

If you have 4-wheel disc then paint the calipers. They sell special paint for it and it's easy. cross drilled rotors? I wish I was exterior decorating it. YOu just can't cross that line, like the big ass, 1 1/2 foot trunk spoiler. How about a very, very subtle hood scoop? COme on and send me more pics.

Lab Rat 04-12-2008 08:22 PM

Yeah, it's got dual exhaust, with flowmasters. I posted about it in another thread here, and there's the Youtube link on my first post here with the pictures. I had them put 2 1/2 inch angled chrome tips on that fit under the exhaust cutouts in the bumper. I wanted to go low-key, but honestly you can't hardly see them.

I'd either have to go with the factory fog lights, or a set of high quality aftermarkets that fill the holes nicely. No blue's, I promise.

Yes, it has four wheel disc brakes. They gave a quick spray paint to the front calipers when they installed the wheels. I saw them spraying something, but I didn't know what it was until they backed it out and I got to looking at it. They painted them black, and it does look nice. Weird thing is though, they didn't paint the back ones. Slotted or cross-drilled rotors would look nice, but I must spend money on this kind of stuff slowly, so the wife doesn't really figure it out! And for olds_97lss, thanks for the compliment. Yes, I agree, the factory wheels are a pain in the butt to clean. These Mustang wheels are a lot easier!

Sorry conan, no spoiler, hood scoop, or billet gas door cover. I like subtle.

These pictures that I linked on here used to be big, what happened to them? All I see now are pretty small. Kinda hard to see detail like that. Oh well, if anyone wants bigger, I can post a link to putfile where they are.

Yeah I meant I was anti- giant spoiler. Hate them. They belong on sprint cars. Just some outside ideas, I think if you didn't change a thing it is still a sweet eye catcher. Good-luck.

< src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" =text/> </>I love the color and the wheels.....

If you want to change the grill you can get a jet black one for about $119 off the net from sveral different part centers that is the replacemnt for 02 - 03 Maurader. Double check to see if it will fit your 06 , it did my 05.

The grill is ready to paint or leave it black. My caris silver so I left it black and it made it look like a whole different car, took out the "granny car" look.

Painting chromed plastic (which is what you have now) is a real pain...very hard to get the paint to stick.

As an alternative (much cheaper for some reason) you can get a black honey comb Crown Vic grill - but it has the mount for the Ford Emblem., not Mercury. The plus is people will think you are a state trooper and get out of your way on the interstate. < =text/> _uacct = "UA-939292-45"; urchinTracker(); </>< => <!--

Sounds cool in theory... but in reality, not so much. I cause parades
in front of and behind me with my rig (06 white marquis w/moon roof).

You'd think people would notice the moon roof, but they don't. They
see a white full size and lock em down. It really sucks when your
attempting to pass someone and the dip in front of you slows down
beside them in the passing lane and doesn't pass... just sits there
going head to head with the car we're both attempting to pass for 5
miles...

I do like the black grill though. That would look nice on lab rat's rig. Add to the sleeper look even more.
