I put new rotors and pads on the front of my '97 Grand Marquis about 2,000 miles ago. What a difference! no vibration and stops smooth and fast. The ceramic pads are quiet and dust-free. I'm going to go with ceramics on my wife's 2003 Expedition as well in hopes of reducing the ridiculous levels of brake dust the factory pads produce.

Also saw a site with good DIY instructions for the rotor/pad job...

It's an easy job for most wrench-turners but it's still nice to have some detailed instructions (and pictures) specific to our cars.

Yep, I am currently dealing with warped rotors. Picking good rotors is rather difficult and pricey! Unfortunately American or Canadian made rotors are a thing of the past. I did find a nice set of Raybestos Ceramic pads for the front of my Grand Marquis..now just got to take a risk on some rotors and hope they will not warp! I did find a good link about lightweight rotors and what to watch for while purchasing rotors for these heavy cars. Watch for the heavy 17+lb rotors and make sure they have holes drilled into the side of the cap, through the vanes for side ventilation. Also make sure the vanes are shorter with more surface material for both sides. They claim the cheap lightweight rotors have taller vanes and less braking material to stop warpage.
