New power steering pump = happy car

replaced the old squeaky, leaky power steering pump in my car with a new one and it is even easier to steer now. I can easily one finger the steering wheel now, even when parked (couldn't do the "when parked" part before without revving the engine a bit). It's also nice to not have the squeaking every rotation of the pump due to the old worn out shaft on the old pump scraping on the casing of the pump. Took about 2.5 hours to do and then had to hose down the belt with belt dressing to keep it from slipping cause I got ATF all over it (pump uses type F ATF in my 88 MGM) but it all worked out and the car runs just a touch better and hopefully won't be leaving any more power steering pools when I park.

A Ford product with a quiet non leaky power steering pump??? BLASPHEMY!!!

The difference is amazing isn;t it?? I think I'll be doing the same on the 91 Vic in the near future. I tired chaning the mud that used to be fluid, bit it's still quite noisy, and leaking worse now..

my car does that do the leaking i mean but other then that it does make some noise when you turn it and your no moving but other then that the steering is very light

mine was the same way... except when at a stand still. I would have to rev the engine just a little in park to turn the wheels easily. It didn't increase resistance that much, but it definitely made it more difficult to turn. the new pump I installed does NOT have that problem though.
