Possible oil filter housing gasket leak (extremely bad)

So changed the oil for the first time since owning my beautiful Merc, according to the windshield sticker there was 9K mikes on the oil...(got 2 kids couldn't afford to change the oil til now) OK so the oil filter was so tight I had to use a pair of huge vice grips to get it off.Now I did have a small leak coming from I believe the oil filter housing gasket already but now I literally can't drive my car as I lose about 1/2 a quart every 5 seconds...I switched to 10W-30 not sure if maybe the thicker oil caused too much pressure or if I maybe moved the housing enough to brake the gasket seal when I removed the extremely over tightened oil filter but.I was wondering if anyone had some opinions on it?Anyone ever had that gasket just blow bad enough to leak a steady stream like that down the oil filter?Thank you all in advance.

Well guys being as impatient as I am I went ahead and changed the gasket without waiting for a response(2 1/2 hours by myself not as bad as I thought) and SHES ALIIIIIVE that was the problem.
