Project Status

Well I'm going to have all of the parts for the 'tune up' day after tomorrow:

plugs
wires
cap
rotor
valve cover gasket
plenum gasket
throttle valve cable bushing
(i think thats it for this week)

we're hoping that there isn't a fuel problem, but we're suspecting that there might be a problem priming the fuel pump. the colder it gets, the harder she is to start.

we found the fuel pressure regulator and it appears to be ok (says my brother, i didnt see it today) and we were looking for a fuel pressure gage but couldnt find one. we will probably borrow one from the shop or one of his buddies.

how can i test my fuel line at home by myself?

there should be a Schroeder valve on the fuel rails. Just clamp the fuel pressure gauge to that and turn the key to on. I'm not sure that you have to start it, but that may help tell if there's a drop in pressure during higher RPMs.

Another thing to add to your list (especially if you're going to take the upper plenum off) is throttle body/carb cleaner and clean out the idle air control motor. That could be a source of the hard starting. I know my 88 MGM loves to start in the cold weather. It's warm that it's tougher to start.

aw crap my post didnt post

anyway here's the gist:

my COOLANT PRESSURE IS 16 LBS POUNDS , which is perfect (posted for search knowledge base)
my fuel pressure is checked but we don't know the specs that it is SUPPOSED TO BE but I will post that tomorrow

peace
