Proper Removal of Headlights

Over the years, the plastic headlights on my 2000 MGM have become yellowed and fogged up. I have tried various type of polish such as, Meguiar’s Plastix, (See below link:)

However, the plastic on the headlights soon return to their dull dingy color, so I gave up and brought a new pair on ebay.com (I actually got both sides for around $40.00)

My question is this now, what is the proper procedure for removing my old headlights, and installing the new ones. I have noticed that my existing headlights are held in place, but what appears to be a couple of plastic wing nut type fasteners, which are holding two metal tabs in place. If I undo these plastic wing nuts, will I foul up the alignment of my headlights, or do these plastic nuts simply hold the shell of the headlights into the body of the car?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

The headlights on your Panther are held in place by the metal tabs that slide into the rubber "nuts".
Remove the metal tabs by pulling them straight out -- the headlight comes right out.
Try not to destroy the metal tabs when removing them -- you'll need 'em to fit the new headlight.
Good luck !
