whats up guys. i have a 1978 mercury grand marquis with a 6.6L. about how much would it cost for a rebuild kit??

This all depends on what you are rebuilding.. I'm assuming you mean the engine.. Prices on this can vary wildly.. It will depend on what condition your engine is in now, how thorough you plan to be, and the type and quality of parts you want to use..

There is also the factor of machine work.. ARe the cylinder walls worn badly that it needs a rebore, is the cam shaft worn out... This particular engine was plagued with oiling to the main bearings, so chances are your crankshaft could be worn and will need turned/replaced.. Cracked cylinder heads are not unusual either...

Before ordering anything it wouild be best to disassemble your engine and see what condition it is in..

Unfortunatley the 400 wasn;t one of Ford's better engines out of the box, although with some modification they can be decent....

I guess the first thing to ask is what are your plans for the car?
