Hi, I recentley purchased a 1990 grand marquis. When I first drove it, it did not have power steering. So I replaced the power steering pump. Then, it still wouldn't work. So I was advised to replace the steering box (which I did). When it was finally installed,I drove itout of the shop and about a minuet later, the steering box exploded and cracked right down the middle. I am just wondering if this has to do with the pressure valve. If not, I really dont know what to do any more. Any thoughts on what the problem may be? Thanks In Advance! ----------Dave |
Anybody out there?

Even though there's a lot of pressure in the power steering system, I never heard of a box cracking. Sounds like a manufacturers' issue or defect. If, like you said, it was done in a shop and it was a new part, I would go back there and have them replace it. Warranty applies on all new parts. Greetings! |
