So sometimes when driving my tail lights quit working. When my lights are on the auto setting, both head and tail lights quit. The blinkers and brake lights still work. This only happens sometimes and there is no common denominator as to why. When this happens, If I flip the lights to on, the head lights come on but tail lights do not. If I kick the steering column they sometimes come back on. Sometimes not. Ive looked over all of the wiring and everything seems ok. Not really sure what to do besides running the tail lights to straight power and putting them on a toggle switch. Im tired of getting pulled over.
I had a similar problem with the famous 95 MERC. I got a new Headlight Switch from Amazon.com -- Evan-Fischer EVA13672038529 Switch for Ford Crown Victoria 95-97 Blade Type, 9-Prong Male Terminal.
Fits Crown Vics and Mercury Marquis.
The new switch came with a shiny black face that didn't match the dashboard's color -- so I took the faceplate off of the new switch and changed it for the original faceplate.
All lights working fine today. '95 MERC at Flaming Gorge, Utah.
