turn signal bulb

On our 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis.
The front left side turn signal bulb has burned out. How do I get to the bulb to replace it? There is one screw on the outside lens cover but I can't see whatever else is holding it in from the rear.

I believe there is a nut holding on to a studded bolt at the 'front' of that turn signal lens.

Open the hood and gain access to the headlights. Next to the headlight, directly behind the front of the turn signal lens, you should find a nut to remove.

Thanks Crazy I will take another look at it first thing in the morning.

on my wife's 93, the access to the headlights in from a panel under the hood (plastic panel pops out and there's the lights). I can't remember if the blinker is also accessible there or from reaching up from behind the bumper.

Thanks guys, I found it. You need to be a bit of a contortionist to get to it but I finally got it out replaced the bulb and all is ok.

On my '93, the actual turn signal (that blinks) is on the front bumper. There are two screws accessable from the outside. Unscrew, pull out the lens, twist and replace.

I thought the OP was talking about the side marker light next to the headlight, although they might have changed where the blinker is located in that more recent model. That side marker light (on the '93) is difficult to replace if you dont take out the afformentioned nut. It's possible, but difficult.

Glad to hear the news! You updated while I was typing, haha.

Just to clarify, where was the bulb located in relation to the headlight?

The headlights are in the front, the signal bulb is in a separate housing next to the headlights but curves around the side there's another bulb in there also don't know what its for, maybe a parking light.

the other bulb (if it's on a white section) is a cornering light (stays on solid when the binker is on). If it's a yellow section (and usually small bulb like a 168 or 194), it's probably a parking light.
