unknown keypad code
Hi, I've just bought a grand marquis 2001 and of course, nobody knows where the keypad code is. Is there a way to get this code?
I've read that it should be in the trunk, but I found nothing. There's a small black box under the driver seat with a kind of serial number (5 digits), but I don't know if it is the right one. Does someone know where I can find this code? Thanks! |
I wish I knew why they always tell people it's in the trunk.. It never is.... The module for the key pad is inside the driver door.. You'll have to remove the door panel, and the code is on a sticker stuck to the module...

yeh ive always heard it was in the trunk too... i dont know my code either and ive been too lazy lately to take the door panel off... lol..

Thanks! I will try to remove the door panel without breaking anything :-)

once the screws are out, I think the panel lifts and then comes off.

X2 on what Slymer said.. DO NOT PULL OUT on the panel to remove it!!! It's a royal pain gluing all those tabs back on...

i know you can call a mercury dealership and give them the vin number on your car but i know they charge a good amount for it. Its on you on how bad you want the keypad code if your willing to pay it.

Keyless Code
On my 2000 Grand Marquis, the factory key code is printed on a white sticker on the inside of the left trunk hinge. Also have a '94 Continental and a '94 Mark VIII and the key code in also on the trunk hinges.
