I found instructions to do a diagnostic test for the heater/ac on my 1996 grand marquis

you press floor and off at the same time (it''''s tricky) then press auto...

I got three codes, 24,25 and 125.

24 and 25 are related to the acutator door, not sure where I can find out what 125 is related to..

can anyone here help?

believe it or not, I called up a Ford dealership and they told me the 125 code is a bogus code. (walker ford in clearwater, fl in case anyone cares).

The 24,25 codes mean I will actually have to pull the dash off to replace this solenoid, gee....can''t wait to get right on that...

any tricks on getting the dash off?

I really dont think that 125 is a bogus code. I will check on monday what it means. I just pulled a 125 off a crown vic with eatc, I think it has something to do with a blend door. Ill check though and let you know

Ok,

I had started to take the dash apart to get to the actuator door, and realizing what a monemental job that was, I attempted a couple shortcuts.

First I went and took off the bolt to the actuator door that you can get tothe easiest (well,if you take out the glove box).

Next I took a long slim screwdriver and sort of jammed in where the solenoid would move theblenddoor. This car was a Florida car, so I was hoping the solenoid was just stuck. It is a possibility that theentire time mymother-in-lawowned it she never turned on the heat.

Isort of moved the entire solenoid itself andpossibly moved the blend door.

Next, since I hadthe vents off, I could see in where the blend door opens and closes. I turned the car on, andstarted changing theeatc setting from 60 to 90F, after two times, theacuator solenoind started moving the blend door.

So, now the car has heat, and now my wife willbe happy because she hatesdriving my car.

FYI, the pain here is that the door itself is open for cold air and closed for hot air. If some of you can''''t get cold air, if you take off the vents, you can probably use a long screwdriver and force the door open, but I''''m not sure how exactly you would get it closed again.

I research a lot of links, for those of you that would like to see them, they are below.
