Warning Chime with no fault light

I have a 2006 Grand Marquis and recently started having a problem that has me baffled.

Intermittently I will get 5 warning chimes spaced about a second apart followed by a few second delay and 5 more chimes. This will continue for about 5 sets of chimes then it's silent. The car otherwise runs fine and there are no indicator lights accompanying the chimes.

It's most likely to occur soon after leaving my driveway after the car has set for a few days, but today happened again after driving for 30 minutes.

Any idea what faults can cause the chime without an indicator light?

Does the light light come on at start up, (blown bulb?) check fault codes or short in system!

All fault lights function correctly at start-up and no fault lights illuminate when the chime is sounding. I'm now thinking it might have something to do with my fuel indicating transducer. The chime only occurs when the fuel gauge is below 1/2 and I've noticed when I fill up, the fuel gauge needle now moves as slow as the minute hand on a watch trying to get back up to full. It takes it over half an hour to increase from 1/4 to full.

You may be on the right track, fuel gauge circut is a good start!!!!
