Why is car Burping?
 
hey i have a 97 Grand Marquis...my car is makin like a burping sound from the back sounds like the exhaust..i took the car to get read but i dont remember the code but the ysaid iwas running rich..i dont know much about the car so if anyone can help that would be great:)

ok thanks..yea it really does sound like its burping..pretty funny and annoying

huh... i havent never heard of a car burping before... but if they said the car was running rich then a fuel treatment might help it im not too sure...

if it's running rich on a computer controlled system, there may be numerous issues. The air intake may be clogged, the MAF sensor may be bad, the injectors may be stuck open, the EGR recirculation pipe may be clogged (this should throw a code), the EGR valve may be stuck shut (this would usually throw a code as well), etc.

You'll definitely want to check the air intake and filter to make sure nothing is clogged (like a rat crawled up in the system and died or something) and maybe run some injector cleaner through a few tanks of gas.
