On my 95 Cougar I have a lil muffler type thing underneath the car that is right next to the driveshaft. Is that a silencer or what? I plan on taking it off if it is. Give my car a lil bit of a rumble. Let me know...

it is called a resonator. it smoothes out exhaust note and flow.
