Hello to everyone,


I owna red 2006 premier fully loaded (except the running boards). I was hoping to talk with folks who also have a Mariner. Has anyonedriven offroad with theirs? or down onto a beach? I was also hoping to find out about performance upgrades if there are any. My wife and I sure do love driving now!

See my previous posts on the Mariner - Don't take it on any beach until you can test the 4WD. My new Mariner 4WD - V6 got stuck going up a little tiny hill of loose sand. [img]smileys/smiley7.gif[/img] It is not a 4WD as presented but an AWD and there is a big differnce when it comes to driving off road. Other than that I love my truck and am getting 25mpg on the highway and 21mpg in city traffic. Running boards were not an option in March of this year but I would like to add them to make it easier for my wife to get in and out of "Marney!"


I hope it performs better in deep snow and will keep Mariner owners posted on this site.

Okay, yes the Mariner is a 4X4 and not an AWD. Do you know the difference? It is a 4X4 because it is in front wheel drive until it senses wheel slipage, then 4X4 is engaged automatically. It is called intellegent 4X4. An all wheel drive is being pulled by 4 wheels all of the time and is constantly changing the power ration. Honestly, the Mariner is not built as an off road vehicle. The 4X4 is a great saftey feature, it is great for snowy or wet conditions, or even for going through mud. If you are going rock climbing...probably not the best choice. If you want a vehicle to go off road, take a look at the Mountaineer. And yes, the Mountaineer is an AWD, but it has body on frame construction and a lot more bottom end torque.
