6 disc MP3

So i've tried twice now with different cd's using vista and failed both times.

is there a specific brand of cd-r that works or a specific program besides vista that works?

anything that will finalize the CD. Personally the Memorex Black cds worked for me when I had the 06 F150 with that in-dash 6-disc mp3 changer. Just copy the mp3s over to the cd and finalize the cd. if you don't finalize the cd, it won't work. The mp3s can also be in folders if you want to help organize stuff. I did notice that any band names with a period in it (like P.O.D.) would show all characters before the first period (so P.O.D. would only show the artist as P). I thought that was rather annoying, but it never affected playback.

my first disc was a colored memorex, thought maybe that was the problem so i waited til my next trip to wally and bought some regular memorex disc's and has the same problem. when i eject the disc it said it was being finalized first.

Dunno... I always used Nero or CDburnerXP... but then I'm using windows XP. CDburnerXP is free.

OK, I think most of the problem actually was Vista's software. soon as i used Nero 9, BAM! I had 4 Mp3 cd's in there lol. quite enjoyable!

Does your have the occasional "skip" sound when a new track starts?

slymer 05-07-2009 04:30 PM

Mine would "pause between tracks" as it buffered the next file, but it never skipped unless I was driving over some seriously rough roads... at least playing mp3s. So if you have a cd that has continuous tracks (one leads into the next) you will hear a brief pause between the tracks. There is no fix for this other than making the entire cd one file.

i dont mind the pause nearly as much as that occasional chirp sound like the cd skips. oh well i'll live with it lol

slymer 05-08-2009 12:13 PM

oh... that... yeah... that's the cd skipping and the buffer not properly compensating. That annoyed me a little too.

so no way around that i assume. moving onto my next question, what about the potential to the rear speakers on the rear deck lid. looks like cutouts in the trunk end for a 6x9 or so but no wiring for it in the immediate area.

slymer 05-08-2009 09:20 PM

I think those would be for the mach/premium/audiophile sound system (whatever they're calling the top end options for sound systems now) and I think that comes with additional wiring harnesses for those things. I could be well mistaken since I know almost nothing about the inner workings of the newer vehicles. I gave up the 06 F150 back in May because the lease was up and I couldn't afford to finance it. My 88 MGM runs good though and saves me a ton of money cause it's paid for. Also, the speaker holes may be 6x8 as Ford seems to have liked that form factor for many years.

on a side note, if the trunk is lined (carpeted all around) the harnesses for those speakers may be behind the carpet/lining. even my old 88 MGM has some front wire harnesses in the doors for the 6.5" speaker holes even though they only used the 5" ones in the dash. I'm still debating cutting the holes out of the door panels and installing some speakers in the doors and removing the ones in the dash.
