Thought I'd share my buy with you guys and learn some about the car while its fresh!

the short version: I have a 97 F150 S-Cab with a lightning transplant motor and racebuilt 4r70w, very fun truck but was down for almost 8 months because of a dispute with a so called transmission builder in my area "State Transmission" and "Rods Cars".

My DD during this time was a 93 Probe, needless to say it was down the same amount of time lol.

So I decided it was time for a reliable DD, my last 2 choices came down to a 05 Lincoln LS V8 and a 06 Milan Premier V6. The Milan has 30k on the clock, and i think it puts my v6 probe to shame in the power department.

My first questions about the car is who makes a good repair manual? i usually dislike chiltons/haynes because well, they dont cover very much for me. im afraid its too new for a motors manual? i have some sort of aftermarket stone deflector behind the grille that i just dont like the way its fastened to the grille by baling wire.

heh... sounds like some redneck fix I'd put on my car. Other than finding the ford service manual for that car (which tends to be a pricey lot), I doubt you'll find anything that will meet your needs. From what I can find, you'll have to subscribe to www.motorcraftservice.com and order the service manuals directly from motorcraft. I don't know what's involved in this since I don't have a subscription myself. My vehicles are old enough that there are good repair books for them already.

eek, motorcraft lol, well at least their books are pretty good if i can bear their prices. i'll have to look into that then, thanks!

Try Chiltons for a repair manual. Decent and not too pricey. The Milan should blow the doors off the Probe considering the horsepower difference.

I'm just leery of their manuals, I found them lacking for my probe book and my f150 book. but for about $20 i guess it cant hurt.

now the probe is a rather light car, thats why i was amazed cause this car has almost 1k lbs on the probe lol

FORGET Chilton/ Haynes !!
Look on E-bay for used factory manuals for your year and model.
I got a full set that have complete electrical and vacuum systems, plus all information on service intervals and complete repairs of body, engine, transmission, driveline, etc.
There's NO substitute for the genuine factory shop manuals !!
I got mine (used) at Amazon, but E-bay is your best bet !!
