I have an 03 mountaineer. Went to start it and it wouldn't turn over. Mechanic said it was fuel pump. Got it fixed two weeks later same problem, took it back to mechanic he is still running some tests. When I bought it the dealer had to take out auto start bec. it was messing up my radio speakers. Any suggestions. Oh, I'm 1,000 miles over warranty.

WHEN YOU SAY IT WOULDNT TURN OVER DO YOU MEAN IT CRANKED AND DIDNT START OR DID NOT EVEN CRANK ?IF IT CRANKED BUT DIDNT START CHANCES ARE THE CRANK SENSOR IS PRBABLY GOing bad THAT WHY AFUEL PUMP WAS PUT IN BECAUSE IF IT DOSENT SEE CRANK SENSOR THEN IT WONT TURN ON FUEL PUMP AND THERE ARE KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH THIS SENSOR IF IT WAS AN CRANK LET ME KNOW

well obviously he was wrong.he should give you retro on the money you spent on putting in a fuel pump you did not need. a fuel pump gone bad will not keep an engine from turning over. a bad starter, starter solenoid, or a deadbattery will. do you remember if you had bright interior lights that day? and if so did they dim out when you tried to start it? remote starters are tricky and should always be a suspect but if its removed then that eliminates that. too bad about the warranty/mileage thing. is it cold where you live? have you ever changed the battery since you got it? write back.
