We just purchased a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer with 132000 miles. I really love it but there are a couple of things that are not working and I'm not sure where is the best place to find the parts.

Windshield wipers -- Interim does not work, only 1 speed and washer does not work.

Air Condition -- Blowsreally well but only on Max AC. Blows hot air on regular AC.

Rear passenger door handle does not work.

Also seems like there might bea roaring/whining in the back right rear.

Any info is greatly appreciated. I just bought an owners manual off Ebay today so hopefully it might also give some insight.

sstepp,
Windshield wipers: suspect the turn signal switch bad.

A/C: Max a/c the compressure works and on reg does not? suspect the a/c switch bad.

Rear door/whining: does it open from the inside or out? maybe the child door safety is on, and/or the door or window not closed all the way.

You might save some money if you get the parts from a slavage yard

Sorry, did not make myself clear. The back passenger door handle does not work. Probably be able to get one of these from a salvage.

The whining in the rear sounds like it is around the back right tire area. All doors and windows are closed. Just had new tires put on and that did not help the problem. I was thinking maybe some bearing or something might be going bad.

Thanks for all the help, I will definitely check on the swithches.
