2005 V8 Mountaineer with Virtually no Oil
 

Last night, upon starting my truck, i had a massive tick. i drove not too far away and got to a gas station right away.
Needless to say, my dipstick registering NO oil.
I added 2 quarts, started car, stopped, check again, and it was still not even measuring on dipstick.

Needless to say i added a total of 4 quarts, i am back where i am should be, and very luckily my engine noises are gone.

Question: How in the world can an engine get down to bare minimum oil without even any sort of notice from the cars computer?????

and more confusing, i have no visible oil leeks? any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
