Hi everyone. I'm trying to determine if the 2006 Mercury Mountaineer will turn its own headlamps off when the engine is turned off. If they don't automatically turn off, is there a warning light the car makes? I'm notoriously bad at forgetting to turn my lights off, and a fool-proof method would really help out!

if you put the switch on Auto, it will turn off automaticlly after 20-30 seconds the car is off, when you turn it on manually the car will start beeping when you turn it off to remind u to turn it off.

for a 2002 +, i dont know about the 2001- so double check

works that way for 2005 also. you'll hear the buzzing or the beeping when you open the door to tell you either lights are on or you left the key in.
