2006 Mountaineer stalling

My engine light came on and error code is P0401 Exhaust EGR Flow Insufficient. The car is misfiring and will actually quit as I am driving down the road. I have done some research and have come up with that maybe I need to replace the GSR valve? Can anyone tell me if that is so?
Thanks

It seems to me that the code Or the EGR valve does not match the symptoms you are experiencing with the vehicle itself. A frozen EGR can cause pinging and detonation. Misfiring is not a symptom of a bad EGR. The vehicle stalling definitely not. The only time I've had a the vehicle's engine cut out while in the act of driving was from a faulty crank sensor. A lot of the symptoms sound electrical to me.

I would agree with Conan. Sounds like a professional diagnosis might be in order.

I've been faced the same victim around 5 months ago.
It was really awkward.
