Hi,

I'm new to this forum, glad to find you all, this is really cool.

I have a 97 Mountaineer that I really like, but I have a small ( not so small )problem with it right now. I went to start it this morning and the key will not turn over. It's like it is just stuck in the off position. I have tried jiggling the steering wheel, very technical I know . I have never had any problems with it( the ignition )before now. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem and if so, was it very expensive. I just had the right side exhaust manifold replaced to the tune of $850.00 . Thanks in advance for any help.

Actually jiggiling the steering wheel is something the technicans at work recommend quite often. I have not seen that problem on the mountaineers but in my own experience if its not moving at all even when you move the steering wheel side to side theres a good chance you mayhave a bad ignition cylinder in the vehicle
