put a twin turbo setup with hood scoops :-p
you'll need some big exhaust on it to get rid of all that air though.

what kind of budget are you thinking about using to get stuff for it and how big of a boost do you want from it? you can get decent fresh air intakes that allow much better airflow than stock systems for around $250 from most places.

slymer!

yeah im lookin right around 250$ for the intake, should i look for an intake and exhaust for an explorer? on the flowmaster and magnaflow website there doesnt seem to be much for the mountaineer, maybe i did it wrong tho...
Im 19 and this is the first car that i wanted to add high performance parts to so im new to searching out and finding the right stuff!

for the intake, you want something for the mountaineer since this has a lot to do with the nose of the vehicle and the way the hood fits down. for the exhaust, unless you have AWD, anything explorer should fit. I think the AWD system will change a couple of bends.

I can't seem to find anything for the 5.0L setup though. Make sure that what you're looking at is for the V8 and not the V6. You may have to do a completely custom job like I did on my 88 MGM (though I rednecked it on the cheap except for the K&N Apollo). Not quite done with it either. Gonna add a larger snorkel hose to fit the true size of the Apollo air box without the smaller hose and adapter that comes with it. Of course, the apollo is designed more for 4 bangers than V8s, but it still flows better than the stock filter I had.

ok. thanks.
i do have the awd. you really think it will make it so it has to be a completly custom job? it should be the same as an explorer atleast for the intake right? You wouldnt know what high performance shocks and springs i should use for the mountaineer would be? agaain its AWD...:D

the nose of the truck is different enough that you could use the explorer intake, with some modification for the hood curve (MAYBE). I'm not real sure about the exhaust, but I mentioned it just to give you a heads up because it is possible. It SHOULD be the same, but it may not be. as for shocks and springs, I don't have any clue. that would be another google search.
