Brake Light stays on
I just bought a 1997 Mountaineer. The rear brake light stays on when you start the vehicle. I took it into the shop they checked it out replaced the sensor for $125.00 and it still stays on. Naturally they did not charge me. They cannot figure out what the problem is. Would appreciate any help on this one. Thanks so much for your help folks. Also am looking for a company that sells body parts ( not human ) for this year Mountaineer.

by sensor are you meaning the brake pedal switch?
if the brake lights are off when the vehicle is off but come on when the vehicle is on, then there is probably a short somewhere under the dash between an ignition (run) wire and the brake light wire. replacing switches/relays won't help this one. You'll need to find the offending short and put some electrical tape between them (wrap the wires). |
Slymer thank you will definitely check it out

Did the Mountaineer always do this since you bought it?
