I am in the process of buying a 97 Mountaineer. Have 1 problem.

The driver's side door won't lock. Would this have anything to do with the keyless entry keypad? The current owner (less than 1 month), doesn't know why it doesn't lock and also never had the code for the keypad.

Any ideas out there?

why is the current owner selling it after only a month? that would concern me as well

A good ? His personal situation dictates selling at this time.

I recently purchased a 97 Mountaineer AWD and my driver side door doesn’t lock sometimes if I bring the power locks up and down a couple times it will lock. If any one here can answer this question it will be appreciated.

Found the problem, the key in sensor on the ignition switchwas hanging out of it's mounting, so I reinserted it and taped it in place so it would not slip out again. the sensor is nothing more then a coper contact point when the key passes over it it makes ground the reason that the door chimes was going off when you open the door is because this sensore is just hanging there and grounding out this made the computer think you where locking your keys in the car.
