Drive shaft help
 

I just bought a 2000 Mountaineer as was told it was AWD. Come to find out the front drive shaft is missing. I (upon being told) went and bought one from a used parts store...now I'm being told the frame needs to be stretched out less than an 1inch because it won't fit. I'm very aggravated because I HATE driving on snow and this rear wheel sliding is killing me. Question is, are they telling me the truth, does the frame need to be stretched to make this part fit?
