Fuel filter 2006 Mountaineer 4.0 V6

Where is the fuel filter located? I did a quick look from fuel tank to manifold and did not find the inline canister type fuel filter I bought at NAPA.

Thanks in advance,

I found it. After searching and reading that it was "behind a panel", or "behind a shield" I knew better what to look for.

It is on the passenger side behind the cross member, at the front of the gas tank. It is hidden by a shield with 3 bolts and held in place by a bracket with 2 nuts. The only thing visible is the tube connecting to the fuel line until the shield is removed. Looks like a hard line connecting to a flex line and is easily confused as a transition from the frame to the engine. For something that is recommended to be changed every 30K miles it is not easy to get to.

Hope this helps someone else.
