Interchange parts for Mercury Mountaineer

I am a newbe here and so glad that there is a Mercury forum. I recently purchased a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer, and naturally, a car of that age, will need some parts replaced. Can anyone tell me what year, and make of vehicle including the Mountaineer will interchange with a 1997 vehicle. I have searched everywhere and cannot get the info. Also can anyone suggest a good supplier of parts for this car. Thanks in advance for any help I can get.

most mechanical parts should interchange with an explorer of the same year. if you have an AWD version that idea does go out the window though on most drivetrain/brake/suspension parts. Engine parts should interchange though for the same displacement engine. However, years that match up with the 97 model year, I'm not sure about.

Thank you for the help. I am really looking more for body parts..tailgate, door handles carpet etc....

Basically, Mercury Mountaineer and Ford Explorer are the same. Differences are mainly stylish, some others because of different design (i.e. AWD/ControlTrac: identical, but transfer case different).

Stylish issues sometimes make it necessary to compromise (i.e. carpet Eddie Bauer version has additional laps for mounting around the center console).

Pretty much everything around parts you will find here:

And here is the forum:
