what are causes of rough idle? And what can i do to fix it?

 

this is a 05 mercury moutaineer.

 

I am having an idling problem as well. I have a 99 with a 5.0L and AWD. It has 149000 mile but I had the engine rebuilt at 147000. It is running good but at idle both in gear and in nuetral it shakes like crazy sometime like it is almost going to die. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

 

Could be all sorts of things,lol. I personally would give it a tune up. Plugs, Wires, Air Filter, Fuel Filter. that would be the cheapest to start with. All fairly easy to do in your own garage, unless you just want to give a shop some hard earned money,lol. Let us know how it goes.
