I have a 2003 Mountaineer. I has a button on the Left side of the
dash to the right of the headlight/dimmer . It has an uppercase P
with a symbol that I really cant describe but looks like something
irradiating away from the 'P'.

Boy, this is really friggin dumb. It's not mentioned ANYWHERE in the manual.

Is it by the headlight switch? If so pull the headlight switch out and see if your fog lights come on.

that is the button to turn off the extended rear park assist. That is so funny. I've never heard of anyone describing it like that. The extended rear park assist is a feature that uses sonar and radar to detect objects behind the vehicle. The off button is there so it wouldn't beep all of the time if you were backing up. Hope that helps.
