Has anyone succesfully supercharged their mountaineer??? I have almost every thing for my 2002 Awd V8. Need to find a intercooler for it though. Im going to use a new Pro-charger. Ive emailed them and they say they dont even have a kit for the Explorer and Mountaineer V8's and as far as they know no one else makes a complete kit to bolt on. Edited by: Blown2002

Wouldn't that be a sleeper! I just
traded in my Grand Prix GTP for my AWD Mountaineer, so I'm all about
blown vehicles and modding them, although my wife would kill me if I
thought about it I've got the V6, but
even that would be fun if it were blown. I wonder how the AWD and
differentials would hold up/react to something like that. The bigger
thing is, what all would have to be done beforehand?

You've got to think about the whole fuel delivery and airflow system,
injectors, PCM/ECM modifications, A/F ratio's...That would be an
EXPENSIVE upgrade if done throughly and correctly

Yes the wife is a little disturbed by the morph of the engine, and her truck being taking away for a month or more. Mostly cause the front end is torn apart right now for intercooler and tubes being put in. Other wise everything else is goin in smoothly with the exception of the intercooler tubes going to the intercooler. The trans has already been done and a stronger torque converter built for it. The last part is the diffs being locked up when the throttle is hammered down, has cause for concern. I think I canhavea switch on the dash that will lock up the front for 100% engagement. It was already fast when i got it. The rear end has been changed also so it is stronger. still looking for a smaller intake though cause the hood clearance is so much lower than a v-8 ina mustang

That locking up can't be good for the diff or the AWD box
Can you list off all the prep mods you've done for this conversion?
Just curious to see what it takes as far as the fuel injectors, TQ
converter, air , fuel, exhaust and all that good stuff.

I would think the biggest thing is the reprogramming of the computer,
since Ford/Lincoln/Mercury PCM's do NOT learn like GM PCM's do...
they're locked into a factory setting, so I'd assume an entire
reprogram would be needed, as factory settings would DEFINITELY lean
out a blown Mountaineer, hehehe....
