Thinking of buying a '99

Hello all!

Found this forum whilst looking for reviews on a 1999 Mountaineer.

I am thinking of buying the truck. It has 130K miles on the clock and had a transmission put in it. Tranny had 105k miles on it. The truck is not in bad shape and needs the A/C recharged and also a power steering leak sorted out. The truck has the V8 in it and the AWD.

I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with this truck as far as the motor and the transmission go. Do these last a while? Also what are the common problems with these?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Cheers
Sunny

My son bought a '99 a few months ago. So far, the only big issue was broken motor mount-to-block stud/bolts on the passenger side...which in turn I suspect has caused the upper hose inlet on the radiator to crack from the excessive movement. I've driven it once... it has a little rougher ride than I'd expect for a Merc, but otherwise it seems to be a very nice vehicle.
