I have a 2007 Mountaineer with 5000 miles on it. When I am between 35 and 40 MPH there is a whinny noise that appears to come from the transmission. I have returned the car to the dealer and they say that this is normal. I find this hard to believe.

Anyone else experiencing this noise??

Thanks

Went back to the dealer yesterday and had the Service Manager take a ride with me and said there is something wrong with the car. This is not what they told me last time I had the car in for service. I have to return the car next week so they can track down this problem.

Update:

Received word from the dealer that the front differential has a defective bearing and the entire unit will be replaced.

wouldnt surprise me. i worked on a brand new truck before doing its FIRST oil change at 2700 miles. while doing the oil change i looked the truck over even thought it was new. i noticed the rear driver axle seal was leaking out. i told the guy to get it to the dealership and have it fixed for free under warranty instead of paying the shop i worked at.

Very good call going back to the dealer and making the service manager go for a ride cause it seems they were trying to take you for one. Kudos to you. As for '87 C. Vic, I'm sure the guy knew he had a warranty on his brand new truck and had no plans on paying you to r&r an axle seal.
