usually you will need a old keychain transmitter to do this. it requires both to reset it so they new one can grab the code. if it did''nt then everyone would buy one and be able to get into your car with a new keychain transmitter.


you can also call the dealer with the vin and the fcc # on the keychain. it is on the back of it or under the battery, or inside the transmitter.. they will tell you what to do for your car. this is a security thing so that require info on the car and usually th othe keychain transmitter

 

I lost the key fob to my Sable and the dealer fixed me up with a new one in one day. I actually had them make me two in case I lost it again, which I did. It wasn''t overly expensive from what I remember, but it was a couple years ago.

 

yes you can do the dealer thing, but if you purchased another one already, you will need an original transmitter tio do this yuorself.
