Default 1966 cyclone exhaust manifold

While i am installing the FE 390 engine on a 1966 mercury cyclone the exhaust manifolds are hitting the inner shock towers. I have the engine from a 1968 Ford galaxy. Are these the wrong manifolds for my car? Any suggestions on what I need to do?

Thanks,
David

Seems to me that your Cyclone is a good bit narrower than the Galaxy, so clearance would definitely be a problem.
Did you measure the engine bay and the engine to see if it would fit in the smaller car ??
If the 390 wasn't an option for the Cyclone, you may not be able to fit it in there without some serious modifications.
Question: Will it fit if you grind away a portion of the shock towers ??
