I'm looking for some answers regarding the daytime running lights on my 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis LS.

Occassionally, the daytime running lights will stay onafter I turn off the engine. I have to disconnect the battery's negative cable, so the battery won't be drained. Usually after connecting and disconnecting the negative cable several times, the problem corrects itself for a few weeks.

A friend mentioned that this problem could be related to the keyless entry touch pad, but I'm hoping that a member of this forum might have some ideas about how to correct this situation permanently.

PLEASE HELP!!!!

how long do they stay on without you disconnecting the battery?

I'm not really sure how long they would stay on and, since I didn't know, I would disconnect the negative cable.

I talked to my local Ford/Mercury dealership yesterday and was told that it could be the DRL module or that module might be a part of the Light Control Module. It appears that the solution will be a costly one, because the cost of the DRL module alone is C $250.00.

ouch. i do know that with some cars, when you get out of the car with the lights on, they stay on for a certain amount of time, and go off automatically. are you sure it isnt that?
