Electrical Question
#1
My Car: 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis, 81,000 miles. I have had the car for three years. About two months ago I noticed the following: The idle was faultering. Also, when using the turn signals, the digital temperature indicator light would dim and brighten with each flash of the signal. I had the alternator and battery tested. The battery was bad. I replaced the battery. The Idle has returned to normal. However, the temp. indicator light still fluctuates in brightness when the turn signals are on. The mechanic said it was because of normal drain of the amperage
from the battery. Do I have a ground problem?

Thanks BFM70
Is this a "serious" issue? Can it lead to a major electrical malfunction?
Also, how do I find the ground terminal? Is this a costly repair?
Thanks!!

It shouldn''t be too serious an issue. The biggest ground issue is normally the spot where the battery ground cable connects to the engine block and the battery terminals themselves. Get those spots clean and tight and see where you stand.

Thanks again BFM70.
The battery ground terminals look clean. Yet another mechanic said that fluctuation in digital temp. indicator is normal.
Alas, I can''t find anything seriously wrong at this time.
I''llcheck the groundsat next oil change.
Thanks again for your input!
