< src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" =text/> </> Hi, all. Just registered & wanted to jump right in. I have a 1997 Sable that's been great so far but, as expected for an 11-year-old car, is starting to have a few aches & pains. Most recently, I'm having a problem with the steering. Every time I turn, either just a little or a full turn, it makes a terrible squeaking sound but actually steers fine. The power steering fluid is OK &a guy at worksaid it might be the power steering pump. Has anyone else experienced this type of problem? If so, is it difficult/time-consuming/expensive to fix? Thanks for any help anyone can offer. < =text/> _uacct = "UA-939292-45"; urchinTracker(); </> < => <!-- var SymRealOnLoad; var SymReal; Sym() { window.open = SymWinOpen; if(SymReal != null) SymReal(); } SymOnLoad() { if(SymRealOnLoad != null) SymRealOnLoad(); window.open = SymRealWinOpen; if (SymReal == null) { SymReal = window.; window. = Sym; } } SymInitWinOnload() { if ( SymRealOnLoad == null ) SymRealOnLoad = window.onload; return SymOnLoad; } window.onload = SymInitWinOnload(); //--> </> |

first off... welcome to the site....
is it a whining/groaning sound or an actual squeaking? if it is a whining/groaning... sounds like the powersteering pump is going out.if it is an actual squeak, it could be the ball joints need serviced with grease or replaced. i would check other components for a power steering leak where air can get in the system if it is the pump noise Edited by: 87_Crown_Vic |
