Default I'm Confused with this Site

I don't mean to insult anyone but is this a working Mercury website? Just some of my observations.

There is spam overload. Just wondering if it safe to post.

Most topics have lookers but no responses.

I posted as a new member and have had 34 lookers and not one comment. I thought at least the spammers would write something.

I sincerely hope this site is working, helpful, friendly and spam less

Just my thoughts Mark

Default Agreed

Haven't been on here in quite a while but obviously this Mercury site has gone to ****. There is more spam about escort services in Russian wives then anything actually automotive-related. That's a bummer I used to really enjoy this forum.

Default 1968 mercury park lane

I am a new member, so i have no opinion about the spam you mentioned (yet!)
However, I noticed that you have a 1968 Park lane, and so do I. I have a question for you, and maybe you can help me. I live in Finland, I bought the car fairly recently, and now during the cold dark winter I am working on it. It is a convertible originally with the wood paneling.my left hand rear quarter panel wheel opening moulding was replaced by something from another car, or model, and therefore I ordered this part, as well as some other stuff from NOS LTD parts, according to the FOMOCO nr received from the original part catalogue. I received the parts today, all fine except this moulding. the one I recieved is only about 6-7 " long and does absolutely not look like a wheel opening moulding. i double checked the part nr, and it is correctly delivered, and correctly ordered according to the part catalogue.
is there such a "strange" wheel opening on your car? my other three wheel opening mouldings are streched along the full length of the wheel opening, but this is far too short. it is a very rear car, therefore i have no sample to look at.

Welcome to the site. I will check on the LH rear wheel molding. It is at a junk yard about 45 minutes away. I'm in the process of moving it closer. It has been in the junk yard since 1984 so to say the least it needs a lot of work. I got it running and the lights working. I will take some pics and post them.

Default park lane

Thanks Mark,
looking forward to your reply. I would be suprised however if it is not streched the full length of the opening.

Joppe, the molding that goes around the wheel well is all one piece. You have a small piece 10-12" that attaches to the back of the molding and goes to the bumper.

thanks a lot, it was like I suspected....god only knows why the original part manual is wrong in this matter, I have no clue were this piece of moulding suppose to be, it clearly looks like belonging to another car. let me know if the scrap yard where your car is located has a spare one.
thanks again!

The part number I show is C8MY 5429164-5A, moulding wheel opening center. I might be able to round up a piece from the yard. I will let you kmow. Mark

thanks Mark, really appreciate your help.
the one I ordered and received was the same part no, but ending with an "B" instead of an "A". according to the manual this is the one used with Wood paneling. but I wonder if it is used additonally maybe?
And thank you for looking for it, hopefully you will find it!

Joppe, I believe I see your confusion. The part number I gave is for the large center piece for the wheel well. The number you have is for the small piece at the back end of wheel well that attaches to my piece. Then there is another piece C8MY 5429038-9E that attaches to the other end of your piece then goes back toward the rear bumper. Hope this helps. Mark
