I have a 1997 grand marquis an lately the temp guage has been hovering in the very very cold range could someone tell me what might cause this to happen to it?

cold temp. gauge

just a guess, check your engine coolant temp. sensor--ECT. mine was bad and the gauge would not work. just my 2cts

if the car runs okay and starts okay all other times then forget all that stuff people are telling you because all those things would effect it all the time not just in the morning. There is a air flow valve that works just like the old butterfly flaps in the carburetors it is not closing all the way as it should which would only effect cold morning starts.
