Love the site and love cars period.. but my first car was a 70 Cougar
Eliminator. In a nutshell, I have a performance shop here in Tucson Az and have been selling accessories and modding cars for over 20 yrs professionally. Ive been a car guy since my teens. Ive always been a Mercury guy over any other model ever since my first car, a 1970 Cougar Eliminator (351C M code car, auto, but it did have a factory sunroof) and from then on like you all, been hooked and must of had a dozen or so Mercs in the last 20 or so yrs, old and new. Back in the day, I was just a Ford/LM guy, but now I appreciate all older cars, seeing as you dont see them on the road as much as we use to. Luckily Ive been living here in Tucson for about 30 yrs now and our cars here dont rot out as much as most of the country, so its a good place to find a car to restore. Another thing Ive noticed...80% of all the older cars you find here for sale, all have factory or dealer installed AC. My shop now revolves more around buying older cars/trucks , fixing them up some. Driving them to relive some good ol days and even parking some stuff in front of my shop for my younger customers to be able to see and enjoy too. Any kid whos eyes get big when they see a car they have no idea and want to know more about it sitting out front of my shop or in our garage area I love stopping and taking the time to educate them on what we have for as long and as much as they want to learn about it. Its a great job. So, why Im hear today, I thought Id join the club here and let others see and enjoy some of the finds and barn finds we come across here. Last week I found this 60 Monterey 2dr cruiser sitting behind a big ranch house (and next to it was a 63 falcon 4dr and in the garage, which was almost falling down around us, is a 62 Tbird parked since 1982, factory pink paint) Anyway, I wanted to show you all this 60 Mercury we picked up. its been sitting too for about 30 yrs or so behind this old ranch house on 6 acres at a houe in the foothills. Its factory paint just about all burned off from the Az sun, and the interior dry and falling apart from yrs in the heat etc not covered. Under the car over the yrs was home to rabbits, and other misc az desert wildlife too. But this is basically how I found it, and Ill call this pic.. Day 1 :) |
