Wrecked my 'Limted'...But a LSE on the Way?
1st post! I had a nice 2001 LS limted...Now totaled! I cant afford a Marauder [100%sc USN vet] BUT Iv'e found a 2001 LSE with 281,000 miles..Has anyone ever had a Grand Marquis with that many miles? It really looks decent with original motor/tranny but over 10 times around the planet is a lot...Should I pass?. He wants $2,500.00 Im scared of all them miles...It runs out good What do yall think?????? .
if the trans has not been rebuilt, you will probably have to drop a chunk of change on that shortly after buying it. The engines can last a long time with proper maintenance though. I've got a 93 vic with near 200K on it and it runs great... on plus unleaded. Regular makes it chatter.
Also, check the suspension bushings if you can. if they look cracked, then they'll crater on you before long and then the tires will wear on one edge more and that's a costly repair for $30 worth in parts due to the springs needing to be compressed and all the labor involved. (I'm dealing with that on my 88 MGM right now)
if all of that looks good and the transmission doesn't flutter going up a moderate grade at 35mph, then you may have found a good one.

Went to look at it again today in daylight...Really good shape for the miles. But the owner "Believes" in KBB and Edmonds [at $3,500.00] and with that many miles price reports don't matter...Lots of 2001 with 150,000 go for 2500.00 to 3,500.00 all day.Because any money put into a tyranny/motor would NEVER be gotten out on resale...I'll offer 1,400.00 and if it blows up on the way home it would be OK! Thanks for t6he tips too...I would have never thought to look for that.
