Any time a new coupe is introduced especially a duo that’s as hot as the Audi A5 and its sportier S5 sibling—one of the first questions asked is “will it be offered as a convertible?” We always knew that Audi’s saucy 4 seaters would eventually lose their roofs and replace the popular A4 and S4 cabriolets, but only now do we know when they’ll hit the road, and what they will look nice.

The 2008 A5, based on the Nuvolari concept that Audi introduced in
2003, is slated to arrive in North America later this year, following a mid-year arrival in Europe. The top engine will be a 3.2-liter V6 that puts out 265 hp, while a turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder will also be available in Europe. Both engines will use Audi’s direct-injection technology. |
