2000 mercury sable dash light issues
 

HELP!!!!
i have a 2000 mercury sable ls that i bought used and it works great except at night, i cant see how fast im going, if i need gas, or even the radio. the lights on the automatic locks and windows work, the blinkers, emergency lights, and all of the other safety lighting works, just not the gauges or the radio/AC lights. i took it to a ford dealer and they are going to charge me anywhere from $275-$875 to fix it. PLEASE TELL ME THERE IS AN EASIER (CHEAPER) WAY TO DO THIS!!

Our dash was going out dial by dial. It pissed me off, I gave it a good whack on the top and all the dials came on again. After driving on a rough road a couple of them went out again but another good whack fixed that.

I had previously worked on the same problem with our old suburban and had totally disassembled the dash, replaced all the lights without any luck.

Taking any dash apart is a major PITA. If your car is crappy like mine I'd hate to spend several 100s on those silly dials anyway. You should know your approximate speed. If unsure bring a flashlight if you drive in the dark.
